Allan McGregor: With his side two ahead and facing the prospect of their deficit being cut in half, McGregor rolled back the years with a stunning, right-handed stop from a penalty. Was clearly targeted at corners and failed to claim a cross he should have soon after saving from the spot. A couple of important blocks to keep the zero. 8

James Tavernier: So often Rangers’ man on these European nights, Tavernier kept his composure to find the top right from the penalty spot to open the scoring. Assured carrying the ball forward, benefitting from the extra freedom of playing as a wing-back. A superb assist for Balogun’s header after the break. 8

Connor Goldson: Marshalled the defence superbly throughout, dealing with long balls and holding a high line that successfully caught Red Star time and again. One error at 3-0 could well have caused a concession. Missed a superb late chance but passed brilliantly throughout.  7

Leon Balogun: Starting his first European game of the knock-out stage, moved to left-centre back soon into the fixture. Uncomfortable at points on his left side while adding real insurance with short-distance recovery speed. Rose superbly from a corner to add the third. 8

Calvin Bassey: Linked up really well with Kent on a number of occasions, playing quick, aggressive football and getting to the touchline on occasion. Pressed Red Star backwards where possible and joined the attack in moments. Another performance that demonstrates the development in his game this season. 7

John Lundstram: Moved to the middle of a back three after the game went 1-0 and, like against Dortmund, appeared composed. His presence helped counter runs over the top. Switched between his role in midfield and defence with real class and defended diligently for the entire game. 7

Ryan Jack: Gave away a cheap penalty which McGregor redeemed superbly. Went through his usual power of work both with and without the ball, also played the cross that led to Morelos’ goal on 15 minutes. Had to be careful for the majority of the game on a booking but played with maturity. Left the pitch to a standing ovation. 7

Glen Kamara: Continued in midfield having played a big part in Saturday’s winner and got high up the pitch early on. Looked more comfortable when in a midfield three with Aribo and Jack. As the game wore on he assumed intelligent positions and limited Sanogo brilliantly after the break. 7

Joe Aribo: Moved up a line given Arfield’s absence and received an early yellow card for lunging in to a tackle. Wasn’t overly effective in possession. Improved in the second period as Rangers regained a foothold in possession, gaining some joy from the right. Unfortunate with a couple of cut-backs as the hosts chased a fourth. 7

Alfredo Morelos: Playing on the stage he loves the most, Morelos took just 15 minutes to add another European goal. That strike aside, he terrorised Red Star in moments. Displaying nice touches, nutmegs and constant physicality. Tired as the game wore on but once again seized the occasion and led his side to a famous victory. 8

Ryan Kent: Has shown his best form since the turn of the year in this competition and Red Star had clearly been instructed to limit the space he could play within. Guilty of not releasing Morelos quick enough on a couple of occasions. Won a penalty with his direct dribbling from wide areas. Another impressive showing built on real hard work off the ball. 8
