Rangers are expected to announce today a substantial donation to help people suffering in war-torn Ukraine.
The Ibrox club’s players, management team and directors have come together in a show of solidarity with the besieged nation under attack by Vladimir Putin’s Russian forces.
It’s understood a package that could rise with Gift Aid contributions to over £100,000 will be sent after staff were moved by the horrific situation unfolding in Eastern Europe.
Like the rest of the world, those at Ibrox have been shocked and sickened by the brutality of the sudden Russian invasion.
The bombing of civilian areas has led to a humanitarian crisis as millions flee their homes, desperate for refuge.
The Rangers Charity Foundation has already donated £15,000 to UNICEF’s Ukraine Emergency Appeal this month.
Foundation Director Connal Cochrane said: “It is hard to imagine what the people of Ukraine are experiencing at the moment, and for those who have been displaced as a result of this deepening crisis. Our hearts go out to them.
"The Foundation’s longstanding international partner UNICEF is always there for children and families in times of crisis and we hope this donation will help at such a difficult and harrowing time for the Ukrainian people.”
Rangers announced at the weekend the club TV channel had suspended coverage in Russia as a direct result of the unfolding situation.
