Michael Beale addressed Rangers' transfer interest in Danilo and Jose Cifuentes following his side's friendly match with Newcastle United.

Rangers lost 2-1 against the Magpies in Allan McGregor's testimonial match. The legendary keeper enjoyed a post-match lap of honour as fans thanked him for two excellent spells at the club.

Sam Lammers had levelled the game after Miguel Almiron broke the deadlock before a late Harrison Ashby winner.

Three new arrivals were on show from the start for Beale's side in Sam Lammers, Abdallah Sima and Kieran Dowell, with Jack Butland replacing McGregor in the first half.

Beale was asked about other potential arrivals post-match, specifically Danilo and Cifuentes.

"Danilo is a player we like, I think a lot of people like him," Beale said.

"He's not the only forward we're talking to, that's the one that seems to have been more public but no news on it.

"Cifuentes is a player we like and we're hoping that's one that can be moved on. I think we need to bring one more midfielder in, he's powerful and works the corridor. He can play deep or as a No.8 and work the box as well. But until he's here, these things can take a twist and a turn."

Danilo, a 24-year-old forward who plays for Feyenoord, could add to the manager's options at No.9, while Cifuentes would provide added depth and quality in midfield.

Rangers are back in action at Ibrox on Saturday when Hamburg visit Glasgow.
