Rangers CEO James Bisgrove has left Ibrox after accepting an offer from Saudi Arabia.

The 39-year-old, who was appointed as the club's CEO last April, has quit for a new role in the Middle East.

Bisgrove, who initially joined as Commercial and Marketing Director, has been at Ibrox for five years. He is leaving for newly-promoted outfit Al Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia.

John Bennett will assume the role of Executive Chairman on an interim basis.

Rangers chairman, Bennett, said in a statement: “I would like to thank James for the work he has done at the club over the last five years as Commercial and Marketing Director, and latterly, as our CEO.

“Our commercial revenues grew significantly under James’ leadership, while in the last year, he was an integral part of the off-field restructuring the club has implemented.

“The executive team James helped shape has firmly established itself and I fully expect its momentum to be uninterrupted.

“We wish James every success with his new role.”

Rangers, who are at the start of an extensive summer rebuild, insist the preparation work for transfer business will be continued after Bisgrove's departure by the football board.

A statement read:  "The Rangers Board has implemented an interim executive structure and, together with John Bennett, Philippe Clement, Nils Koppen and the Football Board, will prioritise the execution of the summer transfer activity.

"John Bennett will assume the role of Executive Chairman on an interim basis to ensure continuity and support to the wider executive team as they focus on executing our plans for the summer, both on and off the pitch."

With an established background in marketing and brand growth, Bisgrove arrived at Ibrox in 2019 to “oversee the commercial growth and modernisation of the club’s marketing and digital activities”. His title then was Head of Marketing and Commercial.

Bisgrove was an influential driver behind the New Edmiston House and the Blue Sky Lounge projects.
