Todd Cantwell has broken his social media silence to share a Rangers message with Connor Goldson after his Ibrox departure.

The centre-back officially left Rangers for Aris Limassol on Tuesday after six years in Glasgow.

And Cantwell was quick to share a message with his former team-mate after the move was confirmed.

On his personal Instagram, when sharing an image of the pair, he wrote: "Your [sic] a leader and certainly took me under your wing, thankful we had time together brother!"

The post comes as Cantwell is set to leave Rangers after submitting a transfer request to manager Philippe Clement.

The Rangers boss confirmed: "Todd Cantwell came to me in my office a while ago, and we have a really good relationship so we talked for [a long time], to say that he feels ready for another adventure and challenge.

"I spoke for long with him because I think Rangers is a really good club for him and I wanted to give him time also. That's why in the last couple of weeks I didn't speak about it. But he came back with the same request. I am going to be focused on the guys who in their heads are focused on Rangers."

Asked if Clement was close to joining another club, Clement added: "I'm not sure.

"He has been training with us all the time and played with the second team because of that, we need to focus on the guys who will be here in the next months."

However, Clement more recently admitted the door is open to a return to the first-team fold for Cantwell should he change his mind over a summer exit.

On Sky Sports, he said: "I kept the door all the time open all these weeks.

"It is already a while ago that he came the first time with that. As long as a player is here and we believe in his qualities the door is always open.

"But, of course, we need to focus now on the guys who are totally with their minds in the club to get results in the next couple of weeks.

"We will see what happens."
