Wonderkid Xavi Simons has posed with a Rangers shirt after an Ibrox transfer near miss.

The Netherlands star stopped in at The Breeze Bar Benimar where he was photographed with a Rangers kit.

Simons - who plays for Paris Saint-Germain - was a standout for the Netherlands in the recent Euro 2024 tournament.

And the 21-year-old has been tipped for huge success in his future having developed into a fully-fledged internationalist while also being a key player for loan side RB Salzburg.

However, according to reports from three years ago, Simons's situation could have been very different.

When Simons first left PSG, to join PSV Eindhoven, Rangers were among the clubs interested in the midfielder.

Then boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst reportedly made an approach to sign Simons.

Meanwhile, Philippe Clement is awaiting an injury update on winger Oscar Cortes after the 20-year-old was forced off against Hearts.

The Colombian internationalist looked distraught as he trudged off at Tynecastle after a cruel knee injury having been sidelined for a lengthy period last season.

Clement said: "I cannot say at the moment. He fell down in a duel in a bad way in the first half and hurt his knee.

"But he said - and he was also tested by the doctor - that he was fine for the second half.

"With his first sprint, he felt too much pain so we had to take him off."
