Rangers are in talks to bring Albanian midfielder Nedim Bajrami to Ibrox.

Bajrami, 25, currently plays for Sassuolo in Serie B having moved from Empoli last year. He was part of the Albania squad at Euro 2024 in Germany this summer, where he scored the tournament's fastest-ever goal after 23 seconds in a 2-1 defeat against Italy.

And the Rangers Review understands that Rangers are interested in bringing Bajrami to Glasgow before the close of the summer transfer window on Friday. It's believed the deal would be an initial loan including an option to buy next summer, with talks having taken place between the player's representatives and Ibrox chiefs.

Rangers have been looking to add an attacking midfielder to their squad all summer after Todd Cantwell handed in a transfer request at the end of last season.

Cantwell is edging closer to securing a permanent move to Blackburn Rovers 18 months after he left the Championship for Glasgow.

Meanwhile fellow No.10 Ianis Hagi, currently playing and training with the B team, released a statement last night regarding the "noise" surrounding his Rangers future. The Romanian international turned down a transfer to Rapid Bucharest at the start of the week and is free to leave Ibrox.

"I've been aware of the noise and speculation regarding my situation, my role and my contract in the club. I have loved playing for Rangers and the Ibrox fans since the moment I got here. I want to make it clear, I have never once asked to leave this football club," he said.

Manager Philippe Clement confirmed last Saturday that he expected a "busy week" of transfer business ahead of the 2024/25 season.

"I expect a busy week, but more busy in incoming and a few outgoing. But outgoing not for players who are in the squad today. That's clear. More outgoing for players who are not in the squad," he said.

Rangers travel across Glasgow to face Celtic on Sunday in the first Old Firm game of the season. They've made nine permanent signings so far this summer.
