Rangers have rejected a loan offer from Norwich City for winger Rabbi Matondo.

Matondo, 23, scored and assisted two goals last Saturday in his side's 6-0 win over Ross County. He also received a call up to the Wales squad today ahead of the upcoming international break.

Norwich were hopeful of bringing the former Manchester City attacker to Carrow Road ahead of the close of the transfer window but have seen their bid rebuffed.

Injuries to Oscar Cortes and Ridvan Yilmaz have left Philippe Clement's options limited on the left, while the Rangers manager said this weekend that he didn't expect players who featured against Ross County to leave the club this window.

"I expect a busy week, but more busy in incoming and a few outgoing. But outgoing not for players who are in the squad today. That's clear. More outgoing for players who are not in the squad," he said.

Matondo moved to Ibrox in the summer of 2022 from Schalke following an impressive season on loan in Belgium at Cercle Brugge.

Meanwhile, Rangers are in advanced talks to bring Albanian midfielder Nedim Bajrami to Ibrox.

Bajrami, 25, currently plays for Sassuolo in Seria B having moved from Empoli last year. He was part of the Albania squad at Euro 2024 in Germany this summer, where he scored the tournament's fastest-ever goal after 23 seconds in a 2-1 defeat against Italy.

And the Rangers Review understands that Rangers are interested in bringing Bajrami to Glasgow before the close of the summer transfer window on Friday. It's believed the deal would be an initial loan including an option to buy next summer, with talks having taken place between the player's representatives and Ibrox chiefs.

Rangers have been looking to add an attacking midfielder to their squad all summer after Todd Cantwell handed in a transfer request at the end of last season.

Cantwell is edging closer to securing a permanent move to Blackburn Rovers 18 months after he left the Championship for Glasgow.
