Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara admits St Johnstone’s pitch was a significant hurdle to overcome in the 1-0 win at McDiarmid Park.
The Finnish international scored the only goal of the game early in the first half after a perfect cushioned pass from Alfredo Morelos.
But the Ibrox side struggled to impose themselves on the game on the rutted Perth pitch that looked more suited to grazing cattle than slick passing moves.
And Kamara is certain that the surface didn’t help his side find their rhythm.
He told Rangers TV: “The early goal helped us, the pitch wasn’t easy to play on but we are happy to take the three points home.

“There were a lot of tustles tonight, a lot of second balls and the pitch probably didn’t help us but the boys did well.
“We are happy to get the points.”
