Former Rangers coach Michael Beale has sent his old club his best wishes ahead of today’s 150th anniversary spectacular against Aberdeen. 

The Aston Villa coach took to Twitter with the message that included a colorised picture of the Gallant Pioneers. 

He said: “Happy birthday to the famous” 

Rangers will don a tribute shirt today modelled on the one in the famous photograph. 

The club were formed all the way back in 1872 and remain the oldest club still competing at the top level of European competition.

Beale remains a fan favourite despite leaving with Steven Gerrard when Villa came calling with in offer to coach at the top level. 

He is considered as a key kog in the Gerrard managerial machine and has been praised wildly for the standard of his coaching and meticulous planning.
