Giovanni van Bronckhorst was speaking to BT Sport after the match. Here is every word he said.
How proud are you of your players?
Very proud. It’s a great achievement to reach the last eight in the Europa League. As we said before the game, we knew it was going to be difficult. I think we started really well. They were not in the game but one set piece and they got the belief. When you score early it always gives you that. Second half we scored at the right moment because if we had conceded the second goal they were pushing us really hard. But I think 1-1, you saw their belief was getting weaker and we could have scored the second one as well. I think we were defending really well in the second half, we didn’t give much space again and they were looking for the balls in behind the defence all the time so we pushed Calvin inside to play three against two and we let Ryan Kent mark his full-back. That went really well second half and I’m more than happy for everyone involved with this club we got through.
What about Allan McGregor. He was excellent again?
At the moments he needed to be there he was there. He had some good saves again. I’m really happy with his performance and what he gives to the team, even at his age he’s still important to us so I’m more than happy for him and every player because we gave everything to make the club proud and we did that today.

How much are these players learning on a round by round basis?
The belief is only getting stronger. Of course, we take it time by time. In the last eight, there are big teams left in the draw but we will wait and see tomorrow. Again, it’s two big games for us to develop ourselves as a team and maybe reach one step further which will always be the goal but the opponent will be stronger each round we go.

Do you imagine nobody will want to face Rangers?
Well, we have good results, especially against Dortmund. The whole of Europe thinks that’s an amazing accomplishment for us. Today, Red Star is very complicated to go to this ground. We had a good foundation with the 3-0 win last week and today we were very concentrated so we are going to enjoy the night and prepare for Dundee on Sunday. Then we go on a break and will lose a lot of players as they go to their countries so our aim is to let them leave with the three points won on Sunday.
