Every word the Rangers manager said to Premier Sport after the 2-1 extra-time win over Celtic at Hampden.

How pleased are you with the way your substitutes were able to have an impact on the game?

Well, of course, you bring them in to change something, to give them more energy to the team. I think all the subs did that and of course you know if two substitutions score the goals you know that’s even better but I’m very, very proud at the moment.

You mentioned there how tough it’s been both mentally and physically, how proud are you with the players reacted to going one behind because we’ve seen in the past it can be easy for their heads to down at that point.

I think we started the game really well. I think we had the better chances in the first half. You know, second half after the goal we lost a little bit of momentum but I think the subs at that moment gave the team a lot of energy to go again and so yeah it was a tough game because of course Celtic is a very tough opponent and especially when we came off Thursday with not so much time to prepare this game but we knew our character could make the difference.

You’re aware obviously of the disappointment in the cup competitions for the club in recent years as well, so how important is it for Rangers to be there on May 21st contesting for this trophy?

Well it’s important to be in the final but you know the most important thing is to win the final. I mean finals are there only to be won so we haven’t won anything yet in the cup, we have a good opportunity to do so, so you know we’re working hard and going every day to the training ground and play games and give a lot of energy and work into your jobs. You want to achieve something and the belief is there that we can win the cup as well so that’s what we have to do.

Psychologically, can this give you a confidence boost heading into the run-in for the Premiership title?

Well I mean of course it’s confidence in our performances. If you go to the semi-final last Thursday, reach the final from the cup today it gives you a lot of confidence but you know we have to take this week to refresh, to rest and then you know next week we will be ready.

How’s Aaron Ramsey?

Yeah, he had some problems with his hamstring so we need to assess it but of course I think he has something, we don’t know yet what it is but you know he couldn’t play on so that looks like an injury yes.

Well done today, thank you.

Thank you.
