RB Leipzig managing director Oliver Mintzlaff admits his side didn't deserve to reach the Europa League final against Rangers.
The Bundesliga giants were second best for most of the match with their only spell of dominance coming in the second half as Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men looked to sit in and absorb pressure.
And despite Christopher Nkunku's goal bringing parity to the tie, Rangers hit back six minutes later through John Lundstram.
And Mintzlaff admits it's a difficult pill to swallow that the Scottish side were able to destroy the team's "euphoria".
He told EuroSport: "It was not enough. It wasn't enough for a semi-final. The Rangers deserved to win.
"We expected more. We have to analyze that calmly. We couldn't deliver the performance that we wanted. Our club is still young. We've been playing in the Bundesliga for six years and have now made it to the semi-finals of the Europa League. But we want to play better.
"It's bitter, but also deserved. We came here with a lot of euphoria. We knew that it will be difficult, that they play differently than in Leipzig. We are athletes.
"Now it's time to wipe your mouth and move on. We can still qualify for the Champions League in the Bundesliga."
