Jon McLaughlin: Only called into action when Connor Goldson appeared to have passed into his own net. Reliable in possession as ever. 6
James Tavernier: After such an energy-sapping outing in midweek, the captain delivered his usual consistency. A driving force with the ball and dependable without it. Opened the scoring from the spot, finishing with his usual precision. 8
Connor Goldson: Like Tavernier, played with the same professionalism, composure and dependence as he did in midweek. His consistency will be sorely missed if he does indeed depart this summer. 7
Leon King: Looked relaxed on the ball and dealt with his individual battles well. Clipped a few nice diagonals over the top and slotted in well at left-back for the final half-hour or so. Played like a first-team regular. 8
Borna Barisic: Made some good deliveries during the hour he was on the pitch, just lacked a willing striker to convert. Replaced on the hour to a full rendition of his song. 7
James Sands: Lost a couple of 50/50s early on which allowed United to get up the pitch. That aside a pretty non-eventful match in which he finished at centre-back. 6
Steven Davis: Playing in a slightly more advanced midfield role, his game intelligence was clear in advanced areas. This was epitomised when he linked neatly with Arfield at the edge of the area, having reversed a pass around the corner. Moved deeper after the break and eased build-up. 7
Aaron Ramsey: Grew into the game during the first 45, initially dropping deep to try and speed up play before increasingly looking to move beyond the defensive line. Hit the post just before the interval, although the linesman later had his flag up. Influential in the penalty win, receiving behind the defence before knitting together a smart passing move. 8
Scott Wright: Can look very sharp when given the freedom to come inside from the right flank and burst beyond defenders on a couple of occasions. Two cut-backs into the box were delivered a moment too late. A 45 minutes he can be happy with. 7
Scott Arfield: Could have scored two within the first half. Combined well with players around him while lacking that yard of pace to really capitalise on space. Ran the backline well after the interval before he was replaced. 7
Fashion Sakala: Starting from his favoured left side, Sakala made an outside to in run that ended up with a shot just wide of the post having beaten two players excellently. Had half-chance after half-chance and would eventually turn provider for Amad after missing opportunities himself to score. 7
Subs
Amad Diallo: Took a couple of hard tackles after coming on at the interval but that only appeared to rile him up. Looked excellent when running at his opponent one-v-one and went close with two strikes before finishing Sakala’s through ball. A deserved goal. 8
Alex Lowry: Every time Lowry plays he impresses. After coming off the bench, the youngster who recently signed a new deal influenced proceedings immediately, his first touch constantly allowing him to escape the attention of his marker. 7
Charlie McCann: Played at the base of midfield and didn’t put a foot wrong, used possession well and looked forward. 6
Adam Devine: Made some well-timed runs to break the line. 6
Glen Kamara: Helped to see out the game. 5
