Managerial legend Dick Advocaat reckons Rangers are already playing at a Champions League level but reaching the Europa League final will give Giovanni van Bronckhorst the spending power to kick on.
The veteran Dutch coach brought the current Ibrox boss to the club back in 1998 in a £5.5m transfer from Feyenoord.
And he's been blown away by what has been achieved in his short tenure already in reaching the final of an elite European competition.
He told the Daily Record: “Gio has some good players in his team but if you win the Europa League, you no doubt earn some more money too.
“Maybe then he can buy one, two, even three good players and make the team stronger again.
“It’s remarkable they’ve made it this far considering what the team has been able to spend.
“But if you want to do this on a regular basis then you need a wider squad with more competition.
“For me, if you make the final of the Europa League you’re already at a level where you can play in the Champions League, there’s no doubts about that.
“But the extra revenue will allow them to build and stabilise for many years to come.”
