RANGERS defender James Sands spoke to Rangers TV following the 1-0 win over PSV Eindhoven.
Here is everything the American had to say.
James, it’s a great chance for the club and yourself. How do you put that performance into words?
I haven’t had many experiences like that so far in my career. It’s just an unbelievable feeling and having the guys as we do on the field around me, just makes my job that much easier. Unbelievable night, unbelievable win and onto the Champions League.
I guess that was your target when you came to Rangers back in January?
When I got here it seemed quite far away. We had to go through a lot to get into this position but time flies and I think we’ve gotten stronger over time as a team. I think it’s well deserved at this point.
How big has Connor Goldson been for you?
He’s massive. He’s such a leader back there. Part of my game that I need to improve is communication and leadership and he’s top class at that. It’s great for me to just watch him and learn from him. He gets my back in the game so that’s nice.
There are some massive names in the Champions League but you must go in there with confidence?
I would say, for sure. You look at the teams last year that we beat at home. We proved that we can hang with anyone and we can beat anyone so I think we’ll go into the group stage with confidence and excitement at testing ourselves against the best.
