Everything the Liverpool manager said to the media after a comprehensive win in Govan.
What did you say to the players at half-time?
We actually had a really positive half-time talk. Okay, we conceded a goal but we scored an equaliser and had some really good football moments. We wanted more of them in the second half. I told them to keep moving and it will be very intense for them. That obviously worked out. All the goals were great. A football game is 95 minutes usually so if you can build on parts of the first half you should do that and that is what we tried.
What did you make of Mo Salah's cameo?
Special. Very important. How all the boys adapted. All the boys who started tonight played really well., I can’t think of one player who did not have a good game. And if you can change like we did tonight and the boys are ready to come on and contribute, things like this can happen. It was a freak result, we know that. And we don’t make more of it than we should. But obviously it is the best we could have asked for.
Harvey Elliott must have crossed his fingers for the seventh goal?
A very nice moment. I thought he was going to run into the curve, which would not have been too cool. But yes, if you know him a bit closer you will understand how much it means. He played an exceptional game.
Were you surprised at the lack of resistance?
No, I think the first half affected the second half because it was really intense to defend us. We built on the good things of the first half. It was the result of the first half. They had to change a centre half which was not helpful and also a midfielder. He got injured making a good tackle. They were a lot of moments where they had to defend like this in the first half. The goals we scored were really, really exceptional. The cross from joey for Darwin, the set-up from Bobby and then Mo comes on and is on fire and interprets the position really well. It is a night where things worked out for us. But we understand that.
Scoring seven goals is rare in a game, has that helped the mood?
It has changed the mood definitely. We usually drink a beer after away games and it is that long ago since I had one I will probably get drunk after one! It has changed the mood completely. That is good. But we all know who we welcome on Sunday. Different game, we know that, but it’s better to go into it with this feeling.
Darwin Nunez getting a goal must have been good for his confidence was it not?
It meant everything to Darwin. All the effort is paying off. And we all know, when it runs for Mo it is exceptional. I hope everything works well from now on.
How do you prepare for Manchester City?
I am always ready for a change in the right direction. We do not have to make a big thing of it. But the best football team in the world right now is waiting on Sunday. We will see what we can do. It was for us tonight incredibly important for different reasons. It was a freak result, we know that, but we had that before years ago, I am not sure where in the Champions League, and now we must recover. It is really important. It is good, but that’s it. We recover and play the next game.
How important was it to silence Ibrox?
It was not that quickly but after we did that, the difference was massive. All football stadiums are like this. Last night someone told me the atmosphere is always the same at Ibrox – clearly, that is not the case, but that is normal. In these moments it is very important to calm the atmosphere down, but that is only possible through football. I am happy the boys did that. That’s why I am most pleased. Of course, I am happy we scored seven goals but we did not come here to score seven goals. We could have won 2-1 and I would be over the moon as well. Obviously, it was very hard for Rangers to defend against us in these moments. You will probably write tomorrow about a complete breakdown but it was not like that. We were just on it. Meeting us at the wrong moment is not cool.
