Everything the manger said to the media after the game.
Was that your best performance yet?
It was very equal to the last time that we were in Edinburgh across the city. The energy was right from the first minute, I thought the front three pressed really well, the midfield backed it up behind and the one poor moment on the night was how we defended the set play. Our organisation was wrong for the first goal but after that, and even before that, I thought some of our play was good. Certainly after that we were excellent. We scored four and probably should have scored double that and that is not being disrespectful. We missed big chances tonight. We had some fantastic play and the energy was good. That all comes from the out-of-possession stuff, really.
You must be pleased with Colak?
He's got natural enthusiasm to go and press and work with his teammates. He's part of the team. I'm delighted for him because he didn't score at the weekend. His whole game is not all about scoring goals though. Some of his link play and movement was excellent. He's infectious in terms of his energy. He's not been able to show me what he has because he got injured before I came in and he's been playing bit parts here and there. The last few weeks he's started to look really fit and I've seen his personality come out in the group. I'm delighted for him. I thought him and Fashion looked really good as a front two. Ryan Jack was outstanding and got up to the game as did Todd and Nico. It was a top performance and you could see that by how the stadium was in the end, the home fans had left so we were very dominant.
Is it important to get Colak in the team to give him a chance to show what he can do?
We've been working on something else behind the scenes in terms of the way we want to play and the energy we want up the pitch and a different shape but it's finding when because we are in the middle of a busy schedule where we won at the weekend, scoring three goals and four today. So while we are working on something else, what we are actually doing is very good anyway. That's seven away wins consecutively. We have to keep trying to get better. Sometimes I'm a bit bemused that the belief is not there because when we play how I know we can we look a very good team.
Is that the standard for the rest of the season?
Yeah, but we’ve had those conversations. At half-time at the weekend we were very good, in the second half I was a bit bemused, I reminded them of that at half-time today that we must start better and we did. For me, it’s important they drive the standards on the pitch, I want them to drive it. They look like they enjoyed it tonight. If they enjoyed it, just keep doing it, if you let it slip there’s good players waiting to come in. There was a few unhappy faces when the team was named tonight but there’s nowhere to go when the starting team is playing so well.
How important is your out-of-possession work?
Away from home when teams come for us and open, Hibs tried to attack the game. If we’re defensively strong and we regain the ball in interesting areas we can punish teams, that was maybe the story of the game. Defensively, as impressive as we were with the ball it all came off the work ethic of the whole team, the whole 10 outfield players pressing, running and moving together. We won a lot of the duels in the game and it left Hibs a little bit vulnerable. We could have been more ruthless but in a professional game when you score four goals away from home you shouldn’t be moaning, you should be happy your team have scored that many.
What can that performance do for confidence?
The league form has been absolutely fantastic, we shouldn’t have a problem with belief. We just don’t want the Jekyll and Hyde performances. Now we’re getting people fit, John Souttar and Ridvan played 45 minutes yesterday so they’re available from the weekend. Rabbi Matondo is back available and you can see although Ianis Hagi has been out for a year, he’s slowly getting back in and around the group. There’s a lot of competition, people are playing for their futures and for minutes right now. I’m happy with where we’re going. I know one or two isolated moments can lead to noise on the outside but inside the building, I’m really happy. Our form in the league is excellent, all we can do is win the games in front of us. We have a huge game at the weekend, the warning is there because we weren’t very good against Partick, if we aren’t at our best Raith will give us problems and it is a trophy we want to retain.
