Rangers boss Michael Beale spoke to BBC Scotland following the 3-2 defeat to Celtic at Parkhead.
Here is everything he had to say.
What is your reaction to what your guys gave you today?
It was a strong performance that was marred by two mistakes. I won't pick holes in the boys for that because I thought they were two players who actually played well in the game. I thought my boys played well today. I thought the minimum we deserved was a draw. I'm disappointed in one or two decisions from the officials. The VAR officials. Not Kevin on the pitch because I think if you look at the goal that’s disallowed for Alfredo Morelos. You look at the number on the back of his shirt, why is their guy not trying to play the ball? Only Alfredo's trying to play the ball, they both got a hold of each other, but Alfredo's numbers twisted around his back. I think it's a goal. I think it's a soft one. If we don't get that one, then when Ben Davies heads the ball against Jota, it’s hit his arm. So it's not outside his body, but it's hit his arm, so if we’re so picky on one moment. I think we need to be as picky on the other one. The mistakes in the game we found ourselves 3-1 behind when we were the stronger team at the start of the second half. We had a big chance with Alfredo Morelos. We had another one which was blocked from Alfredo's header, Ryan Jack blocks it on the way in and then Todd as well. So the goals that ultimately came, came against the run of play. It was a good game today. Two good teams and my team were definitely part of that game and I thought we performed well for the majority.
What do you want to see going forward before the game against Celtic in a couple of weeks’ time?
I want more from my players. I want more from my players day in, day out. I want more from my football club in terms when we go to recruit this summer. We're not a million miles away, but we have to make steps and move forward, that's sure. We've shown improvements since I've come into the club. I've been happy with the application of the boys but I need more from them. We need more for our fans. We don't want to come away from these games disappointed. I think if we play similar to this level in three weeks’ time and eradicate one or two mistakes, it'll be a very interesting game. We need to continue with our league form for the next seven games being strong and when it comes to that game at Hampden, we need to eradicate the mistakes and be more ruthless in the boxes. Today, we deserved more from this game. We don't get anything from it and no one will remember that we played well, but we certainly have to take something and move forward.

And the recruitment you mentioned there is it, is it a refresh or is it deeper than that? Can we see big changes in the summer for Rangers?
We need people to come into the team and start and push the guys that are playing today to make us stronger. We still need more energy on the pitch. We still need more bravery in certain moments, and I think you get out of football what you put in every single day. I thought today was a pure performance from the team in terms of their energy and their application to the game plan. My thing is that I want to go on a journey with one or two players and I think some freshness coming in the building will be exciting not only for the squad but the fans and everybody. You can see what Todd and Nico have given us in terms of the push. Five or six more in the summer coming in to refresh the group I think will be important and we’ll be a stronger Rangers for it.
With a 12-point gap now, it’s when not if for Celtic, is there still plenty for you to play for?
They’re a good side and I don't want to take anything away from them. I was answering the questions there as a Rangers manager. In terms of Celtic, they're a good team. You could see that they caused us problems but I thought we also caused them problems. I'm certain that I don't think it's as big as what it is, but you know that's not a good thing for me to say after we lost 3-2. We shouldn't have got beaten today. Where the league is, I think it's been an uphill battle since I came in. The team's done ever so well to keep it going this long. We'll lick our wounds, we'll do well in the next seven games and we'll come back strong next season. I need to see the intensity from our players raise consistently and that might mean that some in the squad won't see their futures here. That's fine. And we'll go and build a stronger Rangers moving forward.
100 Rangers goals for James Tavernier, that’s astonishing?
Incredible for a right back. It's not an easy thing being manager of such a big club. Certainly when you're not picking up trophies. But what that boy gives his team and the improvements he's made over the years have been fantastic. He scores at the rate of a striker. He assists also as well. So that's a fantastic milestone for him. When the dust settles from this game and the disappointment, it's important that he gets accolades for that achievement.
