James Tavernier spoke to Rangers TV following the 3-2 defeat to Celtic at Parkhead.
Here is everything he had to say.
What are your thoughts on the game?
Just really disappointed. We came here and we wanted to get the three points. We’ve gone into half time all even, that’s what we wanted to do, put us in a good position. In parts of the game we controlled it really well but it was just mistakes. The second goal came off Jota’s hand and I didn’t believe our first goal Buff scored was a foul. They’re small margins but even at 3-2, I thought we had big chances to even it up and we didn’t. It’s a disappointing afternoon but we’ve just got to look back on this and move forward.
What was the message at half time?
We felt we got back into the game. Even before we conceded we felt we were getting large parts of the game where we were controlling it but the small margins is you’ve got to create the chances and put the ball in the back of the net. We’ll look back on it and we’ve obviously got to move on.

Does the manner of the goals lost add to the frustration?
Yeah, I thought Sus (John Souttar) to be asked to come in last minute, I thought he did a great job for the team. One of their goals I don’t believe it was a goal, it came off his hand and I’m disappointed VAR didn’t even have a look at it. Obviously, the one we scored at the start which could’ve changed the game but ultimately over 90 minutes we didn’t win the game and it’s disappointing.
How do you pick yourselves up for the remaining games?
We’ve got to finish the season as strong as possible. We’ve got an important semi-final in three weeks’ time. We can take the positives that are in this game but when it comes to it we’ve got to make sure we’re in that final.
