Stewart Robertson will step down as managing director of Rangers in the summer.

He will be replaced by 38-year-old commercial director James Bisgrove, who will operate under the new title of CEO.

Robertson departs after nearly eight years at the helm and has overseen the club's rise from the Championship to reclaiming the title, winning the Scottish Cup and reaching the final of the Europa League.

The former Motherwell director has also steered the business into profit but the team's performance on the pitch has stuttered this term, leading to pressure from some fans who have waged a campaign demanding change.

Banners featuring the managing director's photograph crossed out have been widely shared on social media and displayed at games, including at Ibrox.

The chartered accountant and lifelong fan joined the club in 2015, steering it through the choppy waters of a return to the top flight and dealing with various issues inherited from the hated previous regime.

And Robertson has now decided it's time to draw a line under his tenure and make way for his colleague Bisgrove to come in with new ideas.

The Englishman, who has overseen huge growth in Rangers' commercial partnership numbers, has previously worked for Emirates, UEFA and TEAM and is understood to have a close relationship with newly appointed chairman John Bennett.

Bisgrove has been a prominent figure in recent years, engaging with fans and giving various interviews, including this exclusive sitdown with the Rangers Review.
