Rangers manager Michael Beale has been speaking to Rangers TV following the 1-0 Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Celtic at Hampden.
Here is everything he had to say.
What is your reflection on the match?
A disappointing afternoon. I thought, in the main, we performed well. We gave away a sloppy goal from a mistake on our part. Second half, I thought the boys gave the game everything. We have three or four big opportunities and we’re unable to take them. It’s been the story of our season, I feel like I’m talking on repeat. It’s harsh on us but when you look back on the mistake, you can’t make that in a game where two good teams are going head-to-head, you need to be at your best and don’t give somebody something.
How disappointing was the manner of the goal you conceded?
It’s happened a few times this season so it’s repeated itself. In big moments we’ve made mistakes or we’ve switched off. I thought we came out second half and we had a right go at the game again. We have big opportunities at the other end and we’re not decisive so at both ends of the pitch, we’ve failed today. Between that I thought we played a lot of good football, we had control for big periods of the second half but we weren’t able to find the goal. There’s no consolation in any defeat. We’re bitterly disappointed and the players are bitterly disappointed as well. You can’t go a season at this club without winning a trophy and everything being okay in the world. Today we missed a big opportunity.

Do you feel you lacked that ruthless edge in the second half?
We were there, we were pushing and hurrying. Physically, people came off the pitch having given everything they had. We had moments with the opportunity that comes back off the post and the rebound, we have an opportunity with a header at the far post. We have different moments in the game where we were needed to be on the pitch. We had the possession we needed and we had the opportunities but weren’t able to take them. At both ends of the pitch, it’s a real harsh one for us today. The most important thing when you play these games is to win and we’ve failed to do so.
