Philippe Clement spoke to the media after Rangers' 4-0 win over Hibs in his first game in charge. Here's everything that he had to say...

Best performance of the season, what impressed you most?
Impressed is a big word. I'm happy. I'm happy about the result. I'm happy that the seeds that we planted this week in the two days or the days before with the guys who were here, the team is trying to do them as well as possible. We can still be better, but I've seen a team that stayed well in the structure, made the runs, also without ball, and we played with tempo. The most important thing for me was the reaction after losing the ball or after missing a chance. Our reactions were good, and that's a crucial part of modern football.

Can that result provide confidence?
Yeah, but there needs to be confirmation. It's like the honeymoon and everything is new. They need to confirm this next week and next month. The downside for me is that I see a player falling out after ten minutes and I see other players who have struggled to play 90 minutes also. So there are still several players injured or coming back out of injury. So that's going to be also a main task together with the performance staff to get everybody at their best level, their best physical level to produce this kind of games and better every three days. The next couple of months, it's not about one moment, it's about doing it all the time and then afterwards being too tired to do it again three days later. So we have still a lot of jobs to do. But I'm really happy about the reaction and I'm most happy also to see how fast the synergy between players and fans was back today. I'm most happy about that. And it's because the team started in the way I wanted them to start with directly high, pressing, with creating chances or creating corners, because we were that high and we were trying to score goals.

Concern over Barisic?

I don't know yet what is the situation. So we will see, and we will see if we will be ready or not. I cannot say anything about that. We need to make a good examination.

How much was that performance a result of the work in training this week?
I don't want to talk too much about myself - it's about the players. It's important that we can create a good structure, that it's really clear for them what to do together when we have the ball and when we don't have the ball. I see that they're really adapting for that and they're really hungry for that also, but it's about them.

Happy for Cyriel Dessers?

I talked with him about that (confidence) this week. It's about doing hard work every day, repeating and repeating. Even if he didn't score today, he still would have had a good game because he worked for the team. It's the same with Sam (Lammers), they worked really hard for the team and because of that we can do good.  Hibs showed across the last couple of weeks that they play good football, but they struggled to do their normal football because our attacking players did their defensive job. It's important for me who's scoring goals. It's not important that it's the striker or a winger or a midfielder or a central defender. No, it's about scoring the goals, getting the results and being one team all the time.

How will Todd Cantwell fit into your team?
I don't like to speak so much about individual players because I want to see a team.  I will see the next weeks, the next months, who are the players who push themselves to be in that team. Todd is somebody with a lot of potential, with a lot of quality. I see other players that also have potential and quality. It's about them showing themselves to be ready. But I think, to be honest, with all the games that we're going to play, all the guys who are today on the game sheets, they will play. Next couple of months, they will play and we will need them all to be at that top. And we with the staff, together with the players, we need to work really hard to make all of them top.

Did you feel the team played with more tempo today?
In moments, yes, in moments no. We need to show them things because in the moments we do it, we are a really dangerous team and we create good chances. It's getting this continuity, keeping this quality, keeping this hunger, keeping this passion to play forward. But you need that also runs forward. You need the right runs, you need the right timing together. In moments it was good but in other moments we missed the timing or we missed a good pass. But I'm happy that after something went wrong, we had a good reaction. This was crucial in this game because it's not only about playing fast and scoring goals. Maybe we win the game more by having a good mentality after losing the ball. I think it may be the major point in this game.
