The manager's full press conference following a draw in Prague.

Happy with the point in the end?

We started the second half much better. It’s a game that was in the balance first half for Sparta, second half for us. If you look at the data, the chances are equal and we had more shots on target. It could have been win for us, it could have been a win for them had they taken their chances in the first half. But I am happy with the reaction we showed in the second half. It has been a special week, because we lost three left full-backs. Because of that we had to change our system. Doing that in just two training sessions is very difficult for any team in the world. I am really happy after showing them images at half-time where the spaces were that they were much better second half. We dominated the chances and at the end you can say we could have won the game. They had two really great saves.

Only the second time Sparta hasn't won at home this season - is that pleasing?

It’s a very important point, they are always really important away from home in Europe But I am a winner, I want to win always. I want my players to have the same mentality and I saw it after the game. They were disappointed they hadn’t won and that’s the mentality we need for the next few months, In the circumstances we can be happy with the point against a team that plays good football. The second half pleased me, the first half totally not. We talked about that during half-time, it’s not what I want to see from my team. But the reaction in the second half was really good and we need to build on that. It’s impossible to create a story in ten days.

Two years on from Walter's passing, a fitting way to get that result?

I was very pleased with Ben [Davies]. I want everyone available for the team and those who have come in during training and they will get their chances in the next weeks. The chances will come if they show themselves because we have a lot of games. When you see the circumstances, I am really happy with Ben, but also Sima who is not used to playing a wing-back role. He did a great job defensively. That’s what I want to see, a team that fights for each other until the end. That’s now two clean sheets in a row and if you do that you will take a lot of points from the season. But I don’t want a team that only plays for clean sheets and only defends. I want a team that plays good football and creates chances.

How do you assess the rest of the campaign?

I am not thinking about it I'm looking at Sunday. I also don't want my players to think like that, I don't want mathematicians in my dressing room I want players who go full every game, and to focus on that. It was an important point, good mentality and resilience to keep a clean sheet, a very good reaction in the second half with some good chances and good football. These are the things to take away and now full focus on our recovery. We have the next game and that needs to be out of focus and not calculating and looking at others in the group. No, we need to look at ourselves. Develop physically and tactically, mentally I've seen two good games where they showed resilience. Technically I expect more than we showed today, in the first half we had too many loose passes. It's week by week looking at the details and developing as a team. I see at the moment a really good mentality in the whole squad and that's why we need to keep.

Do you think the team is looking fitter?

Well it's early to say. There will be things better for sure for the guys who played. It's also important today that Todd played more than 60 minutes to gain rhythm, we had to see if Scott he was injured this week but he came in bright. So, it is a big puzzle at the moment. When I was small I liked puzzles so it's challenging in that way for the moment it's looking at all the pieces and putting together game by game what is the best option. We need several weeks to get everyone to their best level. Players who played really well on Saturday did so in this game like John, Tav, Nico, Lunny, Cyriel and Sam did a good physical job. It's important they recover well. That's the major point in the next two days - who recovers well? I talked about that in our dressing room that's the driver, to make sure everything we do is top to have a really good recovery to be fresh on Sunday and take three points again. I should add, that it's important in all my teams I have a bench who is really focused, concentrated and motivated to come in and make a difference. Saturday that was the case and today also. Everyone who came in put a stamp in the game and gave something for the team. Danilo also after his injury and with his mask. We hope to make the squad bigger and bigger next couple of weeks.

How big a player can Danilo be for you?

I didn't know him really long, I saw him at Ajax and Feyenoord. He has killer capacities in the box, he's a goalscorer, I want to make him a striker who works hard not only thinking about scoring goals because that's a part we need, he has the individual actions to make a difference. That's what we expect not only to score goals but also to do a job for the team. He's shown bright things the last couple of days that's why he got minutes, with a good save otherwise it was a brilliant way to end.
