• Inside the 'stressful' deadline day move to Rangers
  • Ready to make an instant impact against Dundee United
  • Clement style of play conversations and preferred position

Nedim Bajrami has held his first press conference as a Rangers player. Here is everything the Albanian had to say.

How have the first days been for you?

I signed the last day of the transfer window, it was a really stressful day but I was really happy to join Rangers, such a great club with history. Immediately then I went to the national team so I didn't meet everyone this day. Today was my first training session. I was really happy to join the team and to meet the coach, sporting director and everyone.

How hard is it to come in when you don’t know the players?

I think it is a really good dressing room, good guys, good people around the team. I feel really good. I spoke to the coach and sporting director and I know Cerny, I play against him.

Will you be ready to go on Sunday?

Yeah I am ready but it is up to the coach. I feel good. I just play two games now with the national team. I am ready.

How would you describe yourself as a player?

I am a player who likes to play forward, a player who likes to do assists for the team and to score also. I can play also on the left wing but my favourite position is No.10 and behind the strikers. It is up to the coach. I will do my best.

Would you rather assist a goal than score a goal?

I like to do both! If I see someone who is better than me in the position then I like to assist also.

What do you aim to achieve this season?

First of all I just want to adapt as fast as possible. It is important I need to do what the coach wants and then my goal here is to win trophies, to do my best for the team and the fans. This year we are also in the Europa League to do our best there. I look forward game by game.

Why is this the right step for you in your career?

The last five years I played in Italy, where the league is really tactical. I spoke with a few players who played in Scotland – with Josh Doig and Liam Henderson, who I played with at Empoli. I played with Josh at Sassuolo. They told me good things about Scotland and the football and I am really happy to be here.

What was deadline day like for you?

I was at home and I woke up in the morning and my agent called me and said to me we had to be ready to fly to go to London. I did everything there, the medical check and I signed. The next day I fly to Glasgow and meet the sporting director and coach and went to Ibrox Stadium. It was very stressful but I was really happy to be here and to join Rangers.

What have your conversations been like regarding the style of play?

I think the coach wants to play good football, always forward. As a player like this, I think I can help the team. Even with my international experience. I am still young but I have a little bit of experience.

Are you excited at the chance to be the spark the fans want?

I think the pressure is every weekend here because when you play at Rangers you need to do your best every weekend. I am happy to be here and have this pressure because I am a player who likes this and I will do my best for the team. We have Sunday and important game and we have to think about this now because the past is the past. It will be a tough game.

Did any of the international camp mention your move?

I spoke with some players and they were happy. They said it was a different and faster and tough league but I am happy to be here and I will do my best. I will try my best to adapt as fast as possible to what the coach wants.

When did you hear about Rangers’ interest?

I spoke a few weeks ago with a director and I was really happy and surprised when they told me that Rangers wanted me. The last day was a stressful day but it was also a good day for me to join Rangers.

Can Rangers dominating the ball help your game?

I think we have the pressure every week to win the games. We have to look forward game by game. My type of style is to play with the ball and every game we have the ball. I will try to do my best with assists and goals for my teammates and the team.
