Rangers legend Kris Boyd has urged Philippe Clement's players to do their talking on the park in future.

The former Ibrox striker was unhappy to see players apologising from the 18-yeard-box by waving to fans after the 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock on Sunday.

Boyd reckons his former team have to show more in games and fans don't appreciate such gestures and that it's better for James Tavernier and his side to get up the tunnel and regroup for the challenges ahead.

He told Sky: "The performance at the end, when the players are going to clap the fans, they don't want to see it.  Just get yourself up the tunnel, it's been another poor performance, get yourself up the tunnel, get dusted down and ready to go again on Thursday, because these fans pay a lot of money to travel to away grounds, travel to European ties. 

"They want to see performances, they're not interested in seeing players coming up to the 18-yard box and clapping them and saying sorry, they want to see performances on the pitch, you go and do that and they'll back you, if you don't, then you're in big trouble."

Celtic and Aberdeen now sit six points ahead at the summit of the league and Boyd feels the title race is effectively over based on what he's seen so far.

He told Sky: "I mean, it is only coming towards the end of October, but I don't even think the biggest Rangers fan in the world would say that there's an opportunity to go challenge Celtic right now, and that's based upon even the weekend. 

"You've got an opportunity to get yourself back to touching distance, and I think when you've been given that opportunity to claw points back and you don't take it, and all of a sudden, both Aberdeen and Celtic have went into the weekend and both of them are pulled further away. 

"It can be difficult to go to Rugby Park at the best of times, but Rangers have got to show a lot more than what they did on Sunday, and as I said, the pressure's only going to amount, because it doesn't take a lot when you're already underperforming."
