ROBBY McCRORIE: Looked assured and commanding for what was his Ibrox and Old Firm debut. Was on his toes to clear from the onrushing Edouard on 25 minutes and in the main handled well and kept things simple. Tried to be caught out by Turnbull for a free kick on 63 minutes but the 23-year-old wasn’t fooled. Great anticipation to deny Furuhashi who looked to be in on goal after a ball played in behind Helander. Terrific stop to deny the Japanese once again with his feet on 85 minutes. Two games and two clean sheets to kick off his Rangers career, that’s not too shabby. 8
LEON BALOGUN: Concern was raised when the Nigerian was selected in place of Nathan Patterson and it was clear Celtic were targeting him from as early as kick-off when they fired a diagonal ball down his path.
Up against Furuhashi, the Japanese drifted by him with ease at times in the first half, particularly for Celtic’s glaring chance on 28 minutes when Furuhashi looked to pick out Edouard who fluffed his lines but he improved as the first half wore on, producing some meaty and timely challenges on Furuhashi, Juranovic and Turnbull. Was outstanding in the second half, put his body on the line and gave Furuhashi nothing. So much so, the Japanese was switched to the opposite flank. Named MOTM by the match sponsors and richly deserved. 8
CONNOR GOLDSON: The stand-in skipper marshalled the back four and was often called into action to cover for Balogun whenever he was pressured down the right-hand flank. Was caught late by Turnbull on 38 minutes which resulted in a caution for the Celtic midfielder. Goldson took the subsequent free-kick and fired a pinpoint ball onto Morelos who was unfortunate not to control. Was caught out with a through ball on the stroke of halftime as Edouard looked to break free but Helander was on hand to cover. Connected with a Barisic corner on 56 minutes but couldn’t keep it down and the crowd loved his sliding challenge on Furuhashi on the hour mark that left the attacker crumpled in a heap - welcome to the Old Firm derby buddy. 8

FILIP HELANDER: My MOTM. Quietly but assuredly went about his business in the first half, covered for Goldson superbly well after Edouard broke free. Powering header to score the winner from a Barisic corner in the second half that sent Ibrox into raptures. Almost caught out moments later with a through ball that Furuhashi latched onto, luckily McCrorie was there to save the day. 9
BORNA BARISIC: His iffy early season form was evident at times as the Croatian was often looking to pass back the way and his deliveries were poor but he produced a number of meaty challenges, one in particular on Ralston on the touchline which the Ibrox crowd loved. Poor free-kick struck into the wall seconds into the second half. Great delivery from a corner on 55 minutes, no takers, out for another corner which he put on Goldson’s head. Atrocious cross on 58 minutes after a great ball from Morelos. His corner for the goal was sublime and was vintage Barisic and he sprinted over like Usain Bolt to celebrate with the Swede. 7
STEVEN DAVIS: The Northern Irishman had the battle fever well and truly on, was everywhere, winning headers, interceptions and always looking to keep things moving. That being said, some of his passing was a little off at times in the first half. He had a curling free kick on 43 minutes that Hart easily saved. Alongside Kamara, the pair were like bulldogs in the midfield, diving into tackles, showing calm and composure when needed. Kept going until the end, highlighted by nipping in to steal off Soro and set up Sakala whose shot was saved by Hart. 8
GLEN KAMARA: Few sloppy passes in the first half but was so dominant in the second period, like Davis, he was everywhere, winning second balls, setting up attacks. He peeled away magnificently from Abada on 57 minutes and produced a terrific tackle on Turnbull and set up an attack on 61 minutes. 8
JOE ARIBO: A mixed bag from Joe, he’s often accused of letting the occasion pass him by and at times it did but also produced some lovely bits of skill, his shimmy to dart past Juranovic on the touchline on 19 minutes was outrageous. Good defensive work in the second half, often nipping in and winning second balls. 7
RYAN KENT: Kent loves these games and looked up for this one although he’s still not firing on all cylinders. He showed fantastic control to set up a Rangers breakaway on 11 minutes, blazed over from long range on 18 minutes and struck the outside of the post on 32 minutes after being teed up by Morelos. Had a similar chance on 59 minutes but his curling effort was saved. Visibly tired as the match wore on and replaced by Arfield. 7
ALFREDO MORELOS: The Colombian put in a shift as ever, had a half-chance after just two minutes from a deflected Barisic cross but couldn’t connect cleanly. Showed great strength at times to nip in front of both Welsh and McGregor to win his team free-kicks in crucial areas. Looked to be through on goal on 81 minutes before slipping up and looked knackered by that point, rousing reception when he was replaced by Sakala on 83 minutes. 7

KEMAR ROOFE: Not quite Kemar’s day in an attacking sense, struggled to impose himself on the game and didn’t get much joy out of Starfelt, particular in the first half. Won a free-kick off the Swede on 49 minutes using his upper body well, had one attempt on goal, a daisy-cutter from around 20 yards on 61 minutes that caused no real issue for Joe Hart. Replaced by Lundstram on 73 minutes. 6
Substitutes
JOHN LUNDSTRAM: Replaced Kemar Roofe on 73 minutes. Battled well and did reasonably considering it’s his first taste of this fixture but the jury is still out as to where he fits in this Rangers side. 4
FASHION SAKALA: Replaced Morelos on 83 minutes. Had an angled shot saved easily by Hart late on. Struggled to impose himself on the game with the little time he had. 3
SCOTT ARFIELD: Replaced Kent on 88 minutes. Few touches and was brought on for his energy to see the game out and see the game out they did. 3
