Allan McGregor: Couldn’t do much for the first goal despite its distance. Made a good save before the second goal and was rarely called into action otherwise. 6

James Tavernier: Made a couple of early surges down the right side and had one delivery which was dangerous. A good piece of one-on-one defending against Toko-Ekambi prevented a chance late in the first half. Whacked the outside of the post with a free kick after the hour. Not at his inspirational best. 6

Connor Goldson: Making his 50th European appearance for Rangers, he was booked early on for a very high and late tackle. Played a couple of effective balls over the top for Kent. Didn't do much wrong at all, perhaps could have been more adventurous at points with his passing. 6

Leon Balogun: Made an early run out of defence early on to break through Lyon, but was ushered forward by his manager and encouraged to make more of the room on more than one occasion. Defended Slimani well and anticipated balls behind the defence. Came close with a header late on. 7

Borna Barisic: Had a couple of nervy moments up against Paqueta, almost completely lost the Brazillian but recovered well to prevent a through ball. Was used often as an outlet in the first but too often resorted to crosses from deep. 5

John Lundstram: Nearly a month on from his ill-fated European debut, in which two first-half yellow cards earned a sending off. Guilty of giving Ekambi too much room for the goal but otherwise played well in the first 45 minutes. Was intentional with his passing and helped to retain pressure with a snapping challenge outside the box on one occasion. Also went close with a left-footed drive from the edge of the box. A decent outing and he can be satisfied with his night's work. 6

Steven Davis: A quiet first half in which he was almost caught on the ball in a bad area, snatched at a shot at the edge of the box too. Gave away possession cheaply soon after the restart which almost led to an opportunity. A rare off night for a man who has so often been a model of consistency. 5

Glen Kamara: His team were very reliant on him to play through Lyon. Kamara allowed his side to play into and through pressure on a few occasions. Should have done better when released into the penalty box, but tried to recycle possession. 6

Joe Aribo: Moved up a line and had a couple of moments of first-half quality, a shot was saved on 30 minutes after cutting infield but he didn’t make the attacking impact that would have been planned. Should have pulled the trigger when on the edge of the box at one point but tried to work a better position. 5

Alfredo Morelos: Didn’t do enough in the first half, a couple of moments aside where he was able to turn possession he didn’t look sharp enough. After the break, he used his body more to try and get his team up the pitch, but overall not one of his better European adventures. 5

Ryan Kent: Lost the ball for the goal and gave possession away on other occasions. Didn’t drop too deep and grew into the first half. He was unfortunate to see a low drive really well saved after a trademark shuffle give him a yard in the box. Did look sharper without the ball but for the second goal he was arguably at fault in the build-up. Left the field due to what looked like a hamstring injury. 5

Substitutes

Scott Wright: Introduced just after the hour mark and was aggressive with and without the ball. Never hides and always seems to make an impact from the bench. 5

Kemar Roofe: Could feel slightly hard done by to not have made the team, good movement after coming onto the pitch but the game was flat by the time of his entry. 4

Fashion Sakala: Came on for the final 15 minutes. Was played through on one occasion and took a heavy touch. Worked a good chance from a ball down the line late on. 4
