RANGERS midfielder Glen Kamara admits he was thrilled to put pen to paper on a contract extension at Ibrox - insisting the decision was "easy".
The 25-year-old, a £50,000 acquisition from Dundee in 2019, has grown into his role at the champions, playing a crucial part as Steven Gerrard's side lifted the Scottish Premiership title last term.
After catching the eye in Rangers' recent European campaigns and impressing during this summer's delayed European Championships, speculation linking the Finland internationalist to a move elsewhere was rife.
But Kamara has put an end to those rumours - for now, at least - after committing his future to the Govan club until 2025.
“I am delighted to have committed my long-term future to Rangers," he told the club's website.
“I have absolutely loved my time here and being a part of the title-winning team last season has given me the hunger to try to win even more in the seasons ahead.
“It was an easy decision for me to sign and I want to thank the manager, [sporting director] Ross Wilson and the board for the faith they have shown in me.”
A delighted Gerrard was effusive in his praise for the playmaker, insisting that Kamara performs a role in his starting line-up that nobody else can fill.
"Glen is a highly respected member of our squad, who has displayed outstanding technical ability and leadership since he signed for Rangers," Gerrard explained. "He plays an integral role in our system and is vital to our style of play.
“As a staff, we have really enjoyed watching him develop and thrive in our environment. Glen still has potential to achieve a lot more at Rangers, adding to his big contribution towards winning 55.
“His contract extension is not only great news for Glen as a player, but for everyone at Rangers.”
Wilson, the club's sporting director, added that he believes the best is yet to come from Kamara.
He said: “Naturally I am really pleased that we have reached an agreement with Glen. Not only is he an excellent member of our squad, he’s also a superb person to have in our dressing and around the club every day.
“He’s held in high esteem by players and staff alike and we know that he has more levels to come in the future.”
