RANGERS boss Steven Gerrard is 'intrigued' by Newcastle, according to reports.
The Light Blues boss is one of the favourites to take over the manager's job at St James' Park should Steve Bruce be relieved of his duties under the new ownership.
Saudi group Public Investment Fund (PIF) completed the £305million takeover yesterday leading to speculation over who will become the club's next manager, with strong rumours Bruce will lose his job.
And Gerrard finds himself as one of the names linked with the role, alongside ex-Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers.
Today, the Daily Mail report that Gerrard is 'intrigued' by the goings on at Newcastle with 'sources' suggesting this could be his last year in Scotland.
But the paper claims the board would prefer a candidate with Premier League experience, leading to discussions over whether Rodgers would be a suitable choice.
Amanda Staveley, who fronted the consortium, has already revealed major aspirations for the club in the next decade, targeting a Premier League triumph.
She told the Daily Mail: "Do we want to win the Premier League within five to 10 years? Yes. This takeover is hugely transformative. We want to see trophies. But trophies need investment, time, patience and team work."
