Allan McGregor: Saw plenty of the ball in the first half as his team drew Brondby out. Was very composed for the most part but wasn't called upon to make any saves. 6

James Tavernier: Looked far more at his level in the first half and sett up Leon Balogun's goal with a top-class corner. That aside, his link-up with Joe Aribo drew encouragement and led to Kemar Roofe’s strike before the restart. Looked to be playing more instinctively and decisively with the ball at his feet, although he struggled one-on-one vs Kevin Mensah. 7

Connor Goldson: Up against a two-man strike force, he and Balogun naturally didn’t win every battle in the first period. Goldson also played somewhat of a hospital ball into the path of his goalkeeper at one point. He was, however, quick to cover an opening in the defence after Steven Davis had been beaten higher up the park. 7

Leon Balogun: His first Rangers goal was a near carbon copy of numerous near-misses. On this occasion, the Nigerian was strong to power home at the front post. He marked his opponent aggressively and also stepped into the midfield on more than one occasion to take advantage of the space afforded. 7

Borna Barisic: Still appears to be playing within himself somewhat. His manager was encouraging him to get tighter to his opposing number throughout while a couple of loose passes provoked nerves. A blind backpass should have seen the game go 2-1 right from kick-off. 5

Steven Davis: The Northern Irishman slowed the game down arguably at points in putting his foot on the ball. Returned as the number six with John Lundstram moving left. Davis was beaten too easily by Jens Martin Gammelby which opened up a route to goal but he also dropped well to improve build-up play after the break. 6

John Lundstram: Moved away from the single-pivot role and continued his fine form. Lundstram played an early left-footed ball into Alfredo Morelos, carried his team up the pitch with some strong runs and supported attacks in addition to playing pinged passes from side to side and covering defensively. 7

Joe Aribo: The first half was Aribo at his best: quick, skilful and strong. Without a runner in the front three, his ability to commit a man was vital. Linked up superbly with Tavernier to cross for the second and had another couple of reverses that came close to returning rewards. Should have had a penalty near the hour mark. 8

Ianis Hagi: The Romanian always wanted the ball and turned bravely in dangerous areas with it while often drifting to play as the sole number 10 when his team had the ball. Moved towards the ball to play through pressure and was his usual composed self when in possession of it. A reverse ball into Tavernier should have led to 3-0. 7

Alfredo Morelos: Looked out to prove a point – and was a post away from hitting 100 for Rangers in the first half. Generally linked up well with Lundstram, was a physical presence and pressed with plenty more aggression and intention. Morelos also played two excellent reverse balls that Tavernier was close to but did lose the ball in some dangerous areas at points. 6

Kemar Roofe: His goal vindicated his selection – having two finishers in the box put the team in control at 2-0. Roofe had two good involvements after the restart and a fizzed ball across the box was just turned away. 7

Substitutes

Calvin Bassey: Replaced Balogun with half-an-hour to go at the centre of defence. Did his job and almost assisted a Fashion Sakala goal. 6

Fashion Sakala: Broke through on goal in the final 10 minutes but saw his left-footed shot saved. Made an excellent progressive run into the box soon after. 5

Juninho Bacuna: Introduced into the midfield for the final stages. Didn't impact proceedings. 4

Scott Wright: Always impacts games with his energy - beat a man well with 10 to go before Scott Arfield clipped the bar. 5

Scott Arfield: Came on for Lundstram and hit the woodwork within a few minutes. 5
