KEMAR ROOFE was pleased to see Rangers react in the face of adversity as the champions came from behind to see off St Mirren.
Connor Ronan gave Jim Goodwin’s side an early lead in Paisley as he stunned Rangers with a superb strike from distance that left keeper Jon McLaughlin helpless.
But a penalty from Roofe and an Alfredo Morelos header were enough to keep Steven Gerrard’s side top of the Premiership as they earned a deserved comeback victory.
Roofe said: "It was always going to be a difficult game. You saw that last season when they beat us and knocked us out the cup.
"So we still had that feeling going into this game. We had the feeling of the pain we had that night and every time we come here we know it's going to be difficult.
"Getting the two goals just before half-time was very important. St Mirren had a very good start and scored a top goal.
"They were able to build momentum and put pressure on us but we managed to get the two goals and get into half-time and settle ourselves."
The goal from Morelos three minutes before the break saw him hit the century of goals for Rangers as he came to the fore when needed once again.
The Colombian is the first striker since Kenny Miller to reach the landmark and Roofe was delighted to see his forward partner earn his place in the Ibrox record books.
He said: "It's a massive achievement, especially at a club like this.
"To be able to score 100 goals for Rangers is special, it really is.
"I am happy too. I got a goal and we won the game.
"I feel the momentum has always been there, despite what the media says.
"Inside the club we've always had the momentum, we've always had the belief and we've always been working hard."
