Ally McCoist reckons Ianis Hagi’s equaliser against Brondby in the 1-1 draw in Denmark tonight could be crucial in his old side’s attempt to qualify from Europa League Group A.
The Danes had gone in front just before half-time when Leon Balogun instinctually nodded home a flick-on from a corner. It was a tough, attritional game but Steven Gerrard made a treble substitution on 55 minutes, bringing on Ianis Hagi, Ryan Kent and Kemar Roofe.
And the trio brought a new level of threat to the game and were key to the deserved equaliser when Kent played in Hagi to drill home.
And McCoist is confident that the Ibrox men are now in pole position to qualify through the group stage for the third year on the spin.

He said on BT Sport: “I thought the display was average but it was better second half. “It would have been a real disappointment, bordering on a disaster, had Rangers not taken anything from this game tonight because Brondby are average.
“I’m loathe to say poor but they are not a great side and Rangers should certainly be taking something from the game.
“Substitutions were a big part of the game and the goal was beautiful. It’s a fantastic touch from Kent to set it up.
“It’s a very important point and they still have a very, very good chance of qualifying in second place.”
