Juninho Bacuna has revealed every day is a “fight” in Rangers training as the battle for places in Steven Gerrard’s team hots up.

The Curaçao international made his first start for the club, two months after arriving for an undisclosed fee from Championship outfit Huddersfield.

The 24-year-old made a big impression, scoring a thundering third for the Govan outfit and earning plaudits for his creative midfield play.

And he explained the intense level of challenge facing him in aiming to become a regular starter in a packed squad of talented midfielders.

He told Rangers TV: “It was a great feeling. I’ve been waiting to get my moment and today I got my chance and I took it.

“We have got a lot of midfielders and no.10s. Every day is a fight in training for who’s going to play.

“He (the manager) is going to change, every game some players and you have to accept it and try to work as hard as possible in training and in games when you get your moment show it.

“I have been here now for two months and been working hard in training and showing what I can do, doing hard work and extras.

“I got my moment today, a full 90 minutes and it felt good after a long time and to get a goal.

“I feel settled and ready to crack on.”
