KEVIN THOMSON has been forced to clarify a cryptic Rangers tweet which sparked a frenzy on his phone.
The former Ibrox midfielder yesterday posted an image of himself during his Rangers playing days with a handshake emoji.
The social media post prompted wild speculation it was a hint he would be involved in a return to Rangers as part of a new-look management team.
However, the Kelty Hearts boss clarified it was just a throwback picture as receiving hundreds of congratulatory messages and a barrage of questions over his future.
Thomson explained: "Just a old photo!!! nice messages tho, but wasn’t meant for that. Frenzy on my phone"
Fans had been quick to question the meaning of the post, one commented: "C'mon Kevin! Don't be a tease!"
Another replied: "Kev, clarification of this tweet's intentions would be a good idea."
And a third said: "You know this will get the rumours going."
We exclusively revealed this morning that Giovanni van Bronckhorst is still on course to succeed Steven Gerrard as the next Rangers manager.
It comes despite a Rangers delegation returning to Glasgow without the top managerial target.
However, a call today is set to determine when Van Bronckhorst will head to Scotland to become the new Rangers manager.
