Giovanni van Bronckhorst was speaking to Rangers TV after the 2-0 win over St Johnstone.
Give us your thoughts after the game?
It was the game we expected, a tough game against a well-organised St Johnstone who are bottom of the league but I think they had a good performance. We started really well and had some really good chances to go one up but didn’t make the chances into goals. After that we didn’t create as much and it was difficult to find spaces. Scoring the first goal just before half-time was very important and in the second half we could play a bit more like how we’d like, finding the three players in between the lines and getting the passing going game to stretch the opponent. We created some good chances and scored a good goal.
You must have been pleased having been knocking on the door?
Yes, this is normal. Defending like St Johnstone did costs a lot of energy. Eventually, their energy levels go down and we can attack the spaces more. The spaces they leave us and I think we did that really well in the second half.

Alfredo Morelos has five in six games since you came in.
I’m happy with his goals. Today, he got the first goal but I’m also happy about the assist for Ryan. We want our strikers in the box, whenever there is a danger we want him to be there and to create chances for other players. It was a deserved goal at that time in the match, Ryan had to be there and he was.
You are yet to fall behind as Rangers manager, that seems an excellent base to build from?
Yes, that’s what we want, we want to keep the zero and that’s very important to our game, to try to create chances to go one-nil up and so far we have done really well and that’s the focus we want to have on Saturday.
And finally, Dundee United on Saturday.
Another two days of rest. We had that before. Now it’s time to prepare well for Dundee United. We have to be there at 3pm and from the whistle, we go all in.
