IANIS HAGI issued an apology to Rangers supporters after getting 'carried away' with an ill-advised Rabona during the slender victory over Dundee United.
The Romanian endured a frustrating afternoon at Ibrox as he had little impact on the right of the Rangers attack or from a central berth after the break.
A needless trick in the closing stages ultimately didn't prove costly for the champions as Darren Watson's late header clipped the top of Allan McGregor's bar.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst is now unbeaten in eight matches after a James Tavernier penalty and another clean sheet were enough to see off United.
Hagi told RangersTV: "First of all I want to start by apologising to the fans for the last minute Rabona. I know that is not Rangers standard.
"I got a little bit carried away. I wanted to start with that.
"Getting the three points at home, I think that is the most important thing. The game wasn’t one of the best but we have experience from last season that sometimes when you are not playing well I think the three points is the main objective.
"Even in tough moments you have to come away with the three points and I think that is what we did today.
"Now we will relax for a little bit, take some days off and then switching on as fast as possible for what is ahead because the three games are really important for us.
"I think clean sheets are really important for us. I know we are a team that attacks a lot, most the games we dominate with the ball and we have a good percentage of possession.
"But I think the defensive part is really important as well to achieve big things. Since the boss came, our clean sheets are on point.
"Whenever you keep a clean sheet, you just need to score a goal and you make the job done. I think that is what we did tonight again."
