Rangers defender Niko Katic has deleted everything from his Instagram amid the announcement new Ibrox defender James Sands has been given his squad number.
American defender Sands arrived on an 18-month loan from New York City after helping them to the MLS Championship last season.
The 21-year-old was promptly handed the number 19 jersey worn by Katic before his move back to his native Croatia in the summer.
And a source close to Katic told the Daily Record: “Ask yourself this. Would you happy if you were in his shoes?”
Katic is halfway through his loan spell back in his homeland with Hajduk Split.
He has made 13 appearances, scoring one goal but has found good form difficult to come by as he returns from a serious injury suffered in pre-season last term.
Split have an option to buy at the end of the season for £3m.
The Croatian would have a year left on his contract if a deal is not agreed.
