Allan McGregor: Reinstated following Jon McLaughlin’s cup call up, McGregor was busier than he would have anticipated with his hands and feet. Often his defensive involvement was preventative but nonetheless necessary. 6

James Tavernier: Attacking input was limited as his team struggled to really pin Livingston in – a few impressive first-time deliveries aside. Link up with Wright wasn’t overwhelming. Delivered a perfect cross for Itten soon after half-time that simply should have returned a goal. 6

Connor Goldson: Stepped into the midfield often but his early distribution lacked its usual accuracy, also picked up a needless yellow card for making a tactical foul that was unnecessary. Defended his goal well. 6

Calvin Bassey: Dealt generally well with the threat Bruce Anderson offered running behind the home defence. Offered his usual midfield bursts but without any real end product. A poor header back to McGregor wrong-footed the veteran. 6

Borna Barisic: Saw lots of the ball and at times in the opening period he was guilty of not releasing Sakala quickly enough on the left flank. Drew the frustrations of his manager on one occasion for standing off a Livingston player and allowing him to win a corner. 6

James Sands: Given his first start at Ibrox having deputised at Pittodrie just over a week ago, the American came in at the base of midfield. Filled the necessary gaps and often looked for Goldson to move play into midfield but his impact on the game was limited. 5

Glen Kamara: Vacated the No.6 spot and given Joe Aribo’s absence, was tasked with making forward runs from midfield. Could have pulled the trigger on a few occasions but always appeared reluctant to do so. Impact was limited by Omeonga who marked him tightly, and scarcely went beyond the forward line. 6

Alex Lowry: Deservedly retained his place in the starting XI having come on and made a significant impact against Stirling Albion at the weekend. His input was fleeting as his team struggled to open up Livingston although a low driven cross and following reverse into Scott Wright both offered moments of creativity before a mazy run and cross somehow evaded a willing taker. 7

Scott Wright: Wasn’t involved in the early stages but started to see more of the ball as Rangers tried to stretch the visitors, a couple of floated deliveries went close to providing the goal to break the deadlock. Should have done better on the stroke of half-time as Sakala found him in the box. 5

Cedric Itten: The Swiss forward displayed some promising link-up moments in an opening period void of any real tempo, although his lack of threat in behind allowed Livingston to squeeze up the pitch and limit the space on offer in midfield. Should have done better with a header soon after the break. 6

Fashion Sakala: Started from the left, Sakala was bright in moments up against Devlin. Always offering a dangerous outlet with his side’s collective threat minimal – prevented at point-blank range after excellent movement near the end of the opening 45. Squeezed a ball across the face that Wright should have latched onto at the far post. 7

Substitutes

Scott Arfield: Scored the all-important goal with a fantastic finish. It could be a huge goal in the context of the season. 7

Kemar Roofe: Was rarely involved after coming on up top. 5

Ryan Jack: Played some nice passes on his return to the fold. 5
