RANGERS are reportedly one of various clubs looking to sign Manchester City top talent James McAtee.

The 19-year-old broke into the City first team earlier this season, with appearances in both the Premier League and Champions League.

The Athletic say that Rangers are one of many teams looking to sign the midfielder on loan.

Their report states that a decision on whether he is allowed to leave the Etihad to gain vital first team experience is expected in the coming days, with the January transfer window shutting on Monday 31.

McAtee has 18-months left on his current deal, and has notched an impressive 14 goals in 15 Premier League 2 games so far this campaign.

Pep Guardiola mentioned recently that he would like the midfielder to take the same path to his starting XI as Phil Foden - which involved no loan.

But it's said that McAtee wants to be playing regular first team games despite Pep's wishes.

Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has a strong relationship with Guardiola from his time at the City Football Group.

It's said that this could help Rangers' case, but Swansea and Girona are two clubs City may be open to trusting with the player's development.

van Bronckhorst addressed the links with McAtee during his press conference this morning.

He said: "It is the last days. We can still do some business. I don’t know.

"I don’t know who is going. Anything can happen, especially in the last days of the transfer window.

"Sometimes it gets a little bit crazy but I hope for us in this window it stays a little bit calm.

"You never know. We will see in a couple of days how our squad will be for the remainder of the season. I am confident we will leave this window better than we started it.

"We spoke with many players and have many possibilities we want to add. So far I don’t have any news.

"The only news is that Amad is joining us. We are still open and have to be ready for the remainder of the next days.

"I won’t confirm or talk about names other than players who are here and players we have signed."
