RANGERS have been hit with a £16,000 fine over a fan 'festival of lights' pyro display ahead of the match against Lyon.
UEFA chiefs have sanctioned the €19,250 fine for the "lighting of fireworks" under Art. 16(2)(c).
Rangers supporters, packed into the top tier of the Groupama Stadium set off flares and unveiled a "Festival of lights" banner ahead of kick-off.
The move came in protest after French officials had left supporters guessing whether they'd be able to travel for the match.
Rangers fans were told days before the game they would not be able to travel due to a lack of resources with French police needed for a Lyon 'Festival of Lights' event.
But a day later, with some fans scrapping their plans, fans were told they could travel to back Rangers in the Europa League fixture.
Rangers' were hit with one of the bigger fines for the display with Ferencvaros fined €9,500 and Red Star Belgrade €1,000 under the same rule.
Hosts Lyon were also fined with fans ruled to have displayed "provocative, offensive messages".
UEFA fined the club €5,000, or, £4,100.
