MORELOS BACK WITH A BANG

It didn’t take long for Alfredo Morelos to get back on the scoresheet after his spell away on international duty with Colombia. The Ibrox striker has been sorely missed by Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his team over the past two weeks and it must have been extremely frustrating having to deal with his absence, while he never played a minute of action for his country. Morelos was a huge miss against Celtic during the week as Rangers lacked a real focal point at the top end of the park. The 25-year-old looked in the mood all afternoon today and his two goals were expertly taken. His form will be pivotal if Rangers go on to retain the Scottish Premiership title this season, so Van Bronckhorst will be hoping that he can kick on ahead of some key fixtures in the race for the Premiership trophy.

JACK IMPRESSIVE IN THE MIDDLE

It was brilliant to see Ryan Jack on from the start for Rangers today after his lengthy spell out through injury. The Scotland international brought a different dimension to the Ibrox outfit’s midfield and his grit and determination added a much-needed bite to Van Bronckhorst’s side. Jack played 70 minutes after coming on at half-time against Celtic on Wednesday night. His fitness looked slightly lacking, but that will of course improve with more game time. Jack received a standing ovation as he exited the action, which proved how much he has been missed in the centre of the pitch for Rangers. Steve Clarke will also be delighted to see Jack back on the pitch ahead of some huge fixtures on the international stage.

LUNDSTRAM PROVING HIS WORTH

Many had written off John Lundstram’s Rangers career ahead of the January transfer window, with the Englishman linked with a return south of the border. But the former Sheffield United man was determined to make his mark and decided to stay put at Ibrox despite loan options being on the table. Lundstram was given the nod in today’s key must-win fixture and he proved his worth. It was arguably his best display in a Gers shirt and he looked right at home alongside Ryan Jack. He was cool and composed on the ball as well as solid defensively. He won all his battles and has now given his manager a selection headache in the middle of the park.
