RANGERS legend Barry Ferguson had to save his celebratory drink for the weekend after Rangers dumped Borussia Dortmund out of the Europa League.
The former captain says he’s cut out “midweek bevvies” in preparation for the Ibrox legends game next month.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who will be captained by Ferguson against a team containing Robert Pires, Claude Makéléle and Gheorghe Hagi on March 26, led the current Rangers crop to a famous 6-4 aggerate win over the German giants in midweek.
Ferguson told the Daily Record: “The only disappointment was that I couldn’t give it the proper toasting it deserved. I’m on a health kick at the moment while I try to get myself in decent shape for this Rangers legends game coming up in a few weeks.
There’s some proper players I’ll be going up against like Roberto Carlos and Robert Pires so I need to be on it - and that means no midweek bevvies!
I’ve decided to stay off the vino until the weekends - but you can bet I’ll be cracking open a bottle of red tonight to celebrate!”
