CONNOR Goldson has been urged to “consider what he’s giving up” if he chooses to trade Ibrox for England this summer.
The centre-back, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has been the topic of speculation ever since his current deal entered its final year in the summer of 2021.
And after playing a big part in Rangers’ greatest modern European result this month, a 6-4 twp-legged defeat of Borussia Dortmund, Barry Ferguson has urged the defender to consider the prospect of giving up more experience in Europe carefully.
“As the final whistle blew, the camera panned to Goldson standing in the middle of that pitch, taking in the scene of absolute joy all around him,” Ferguson told the Daily Record.
“You could see on his face he was just thinking, ‘Wow!’ “It’s night like that which make you realise just how special a place Ibrox is.
“Connor has got a major decision to make in the next couple of months with his contract almost up.
“Does he stay for more of this or return back down south, perhaps for another crack at the Premier League.
“But he needs to consider what he’s giving up.
“Don’t get me wrong, I’ve played in England at all the big grounds and there’s some brilliant atmospheres about.
“But nothing comes close to the noise, the crackle, the buzz you feel playing in an Old Firm game or a big European night under the lights at Ibrox. It’s the best in the world.”
