RANGERS face a huge test tonight as they enter the last 16 of the Europa League against Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade.

It's set to be a cracker at Ibrox with Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side hoping to get a positive result ahead of the return fixture next week.

Ibrox is set to be rocking and here we have all of today's top stories.

Luka Modric Rangers link

RANGERS scouted global superstar Luka Modric in the early stages of his career, Ally McCoist has revealed.

The midfielder has gone on to become one of the best midfielders of his generation, playing for Tottenham before earning a move to Real Madrid a decade ago.

The Croatian legend was outstanding during Wednesday night's triumph for Los Blancos over PSG, as the La Liga giants came from 2-0 down in the tie to progress.

Injury blow for Rangers

GIOVANNI VAN BRONCKHORST has confirmed he will be without the services of Steven Davis for the first leg of Rangers' Europa League last-16 tie with Red Star Belgrade.

The Premiership champions welcome the Serbs to Ibrox on Thursday night before travelling to the Marakana next week with a place in the final eight of the Europa League up for grabs.

However, Davis will play no part in the first leg after Van Bronckhorst ruled the veteran midfielder out of contention - with the Dutchman adding that on-loan Juventus playmaker Aaron Ramsey will be named on the bench.

Giovanni Bronckhorst previews Red Star clash

GIOVANNI van Bronckhorst today dismissed claims that his Rangers players have become “arrogant” following their historic win over Europa League favourites Borussia Dortmund and stressed they will treat their last 16 opponents Red Star Belgrade with total respect.

The Scottish champions recorded a famous 6-4 aggregate triumph over their German rivals Dortmund in the knockout round play-off after winning 4-2 away and drawing 2-2 at home last month.

Dragan Mladenovic, the former Rangers and Red Star midfielder who is now academy director at the Serbian giants, this week suggested that beating the Bundesliga outfit had made James Tavernier and his team mates overly confident.
