AARON Ramsey today pledged to build on his display in Rangers’ emphatic Scottish Cup quarter-final win over Dundee at Dens Park and help the Ibrox club's bids to land silverware this season.
Welsh internationalist Ramsey made his comeback from a three week injury lay-off on Tayside and performed well as Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side eased to a 3-0 triumph.
The Juventus loanee has not featured since coming on in the second-half of the Europa League knockout round triumph over Borussia Dortmund in Germany last month due to a calf problem.
However, the 31-year-old, whose only previous start came against Annan in the cup at Galabank last month, believes he can help the Scottish champions in the Europa League, cinch Premiership and Scottish Cup in the weeks ahead.
“It feels great to win as it was a very important game for us,” he told Premier Sports. “It was important we started well and started fast and we did that.
“We were able to get the two early goals which helped settle us down and then we were in control of the game. We have a massive week ahead and we wanted to start well and we have. It was important to be in the hat for the next round, that’s the main thing."
Ramsey added: “It was good to get that amount of minutes under my belt again and hopefully now I can build on this performance.
“For me personally, I am happy the way things have gone, now it’s time to build on this performance and have a strong end to the season.”
“Am I ready to build a bit of momentum now? Yeah. We have a very talented team and we have done very well of late. Hopefully I can stay fit and build on this performance and show what I can do.”
Rangers play Red Star Belgrade in the second leg of their Europa League last 16 double header in Serbia this week and are, having won 3-0 at Ibrox on Thursday night, confident of securing a place in the quarter-finals.
Ramsey is keen to be involved in the Marakana and is eager to help the Glasgow giants to complete another famous triumph.
“It won’t be easy over there, but we are looking forward to it,” he said. “We have excitement, nerves, but we have to be calm and professional.
“We have a feeling of everything really and this is one of the reasons I came to the club. I wanted to compete for these trophies and it is another massive game on Thursday, but one we are looking forward to.”
