KRIS BOYD has urged Rangers fans to avoid protests that halt games in future, after today's match against Dundee was stopped on three occasions.

Ibrox supporters lobbed tennis balls and toilet paper onto the Dens Park surface on three separate occasions forcing referee Bobby Madden to delay the fixture.

Boyd can understand the frustrations of the Rangers fans, but he insists the players will not be happy with the interruptions of their matches.

He told Sky Sports: "I think the Rangers fans have voiced their opinions. They are not happy about it.

"I spoke about it the last time we were on as well in terms of the songs. It's not what you want to see or hear.

"But I think the fans are the main people at a football club; they want to be heard. There's a way to do it.

"We don't want to see the games stop and start. I think from the game today, as a player, you don't want it.

"Allan McGregor was a little bit unhappy as well.

"You want to get on with it so from a players point of view, on the pitch it needs to stop.

"We seen the exact same with Celtic up here at the start of the season.

"Listen, if that's the way they want to voice their opinions. I don't agree with it and we are going to have to find a solution."

Giovanni van Bronckhorst noted the emotions of Rangers fans but made a plea for balance after the disrupted 2-1 win over Dundee at the Kilmac stadium.

Van Bronckhorst told Sky Sports: “Of course it’s disruptive because you want to play the game.

“We had three or four breaks because of the cleaning up. So it’s a disruption but I know there are emotions.

“To show their emotions is good to see, but you need to have the balance.

“It was disruptive for us today. I understand the emotions of the fans but we will go back with three points in our bag.”
