SCOTT ARFIELD has vowed that Rangers are very much alive in the last eight of the Europa League despite last night’s defeat to Braga in Portugal.
The Ibrox outfit went down 1-0 to their quarter-final opponents with Abel Ruiz separating the teams with a first-half strike.
Rangers struggled to create in the final third but will be delighted to still be in the tie heading into the second leg at Ibrox.
Arfield was in from the start in midfield, and he is confident that his side can get the job done next week. He explained: “We are still in this tie and we are confident that we can get the job done.
“I don’t think it will be the same game next week. I think we can create more chances than we did here.
“It was always going to be a difficult game. We have come away with a loss, we wanted to win the game and we wanted to bring a better result back.”
Arfield also believes that a full house at Ibrox can help Rangers get over the line against their Portuguese opponents.
He added: "There is no doom and gloom about us whatsoever. We have set it up next week for a cracker.
“I am looking forward to it. The fans travelled here in their numbers tonight, I think we will have another 45,000 next week.
“We feel we can get up against them. We are only one goal behind and we feel we can win this game.
“Every time you come up against teams at this stage of the competition they are always going to be good and have threats that can hurt you.
“We know what they are good at and they did that at times tonight. We got more to grips with them in the second half and we can improve on that next week.”
