WEST BROM manager Steve Bruce is resigned to losing goalkeeper Sam Johnstone for nothing this summer when the shot-stopper's contract expires.
The 29-year-old, who progressed through the youth ranks at Manchester United before making a permanent switch to the Hawthorns in 2018, has reportedly caught the eye of Ibrox chiefs.
Rangers 'declared an interest' in the England internationalist last week, according to reports, and it appears Johnstone will be on the move this summer for nothing.
The Premiership champions could face competition from Tottenham, however, with the Premier League club also credited with an interest in the keeper.
Bruce told the Athletic: “The likelihood is that Sam is going to leave.
“But I have seen enough of the kid [Alex Palmer] and [David] Button has played enough for me to know he is a very, very decent goalkeeper.
“I am quite happy with him and we are in discussions with him now over next year, and I hope that could be fruitful.
“We are blessed in that department.
“The way I think at the moment is to let those two go head-to-head.”
