GIOVANNI VAN BRONCKHORST has challenged his Rangers squad to stand up and be counted after suffering another serious striking blow this term.

The Ibrox boss will be without Kemar Roofe for the fixtures with Motherwell, RB Leipzig and Celtic due to a knee injury sustained during the Old Firm win last weekend.

Midfielder Aaron Ramsey will also miss that key hat-trick of matches, while Alfredo Morelos and Filip Helander have already been ruled out for the rest of the campaign.

The loss of Roofe leaves Fashion Sakala as the only regular forward within the squad as Rangers gear up for their Europa League semi-final and two must-win Premiership encounters.

And Van Bronckhorst knows his players must come to the fore if the champions are to keep their season on track and deliver silverware at home and abroad in the coming weeks.

Van Bronckhorst said: "After the semi-final against Celtic, where Aaron had to come off unfortunately with a hamstring problem, we have assessed him this week.

"Hopefully we will have him back around the Leipzig home game. We also had a problem with Kemar Roofe after the game and the next day he felt his knee.

"For him it is the same, he will be out for some weeks and also hopefully back for me to pick around the Leipzig home game.

"Of course with Morelos already out and now Kemar out for a couple of weeks, we have less options up front. As always, we just have to go on and make sure that we embrace the challenge.

"I think the atmosphere in the group is good and we just have to make sure that we pick the best team for every game. We are very positive although we have some injuries added to the list.

"I think all the players who are available are capable and know the task which is ahead of us.

"I think he (Sakala) played well in that position in the last couple of games. We have limited options up front but eventually other players have to stand up and will be given more time to play.

"That is why you have a big squad, for moments like this when players are not available. Other players have to step up and show their quality as well."
